James N. Rainey, 86, 974 Pleasant Shade Highway, passed away as a result of injuries sustained when his 2003 Ford pickup truck went out of control in a curve, went off the left side of the road and struck the end of a driveway tile.
The vehicle overturned onto its right side and slid across a driveway, then off an embankment causing the truck to return upright on its wheels.
According to THP Trooper Neil Ferguson's report, Mr. Rainey did not have on a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle through the passenger side window.
Another wreck the following day sent two people to the local hospital following a 1:25 p.m. accident on Hwy. 10-south, the Lafayette Hill.
According to Trooper Tracy Donoho's Traffic Crash Report, Ashley Carroll, Westmoreland, was traveling northbound Thursday afternoon October 16 when she lost control of her 2000 Ford F-150 on a wet road coming around a curve. The vehicle went off the west shoulder of the road striking a rock embankment and flipping over onto the driver side of the vehicle.
Ms. Carroll and an unidentified adult passenger were transported to Macon County General Hospital for treatment. Several small children riding in the back seat of the vehicle were apparently not injured seriously in the crash.
