The 2 p.m. crash of a late model GMC truck driven by Emogene Tucker, Coleytown Road, Lafayette, into a NCTC telephone utility pole brought down a long section of heavy lines and cables, but fortunately, no electric transmission lines.
It took North Central service crews about three hours to replace the utility pole and get the lines up and out of the roadway. The Galen Road re-opened to through traffic about 5 p.m. Monday, according to NCTC spokesman Ronnie Wilburn.
THP troopers said Ms. Tucker was traveling north on the Galen Road when her pickup truck dropped off the shoulder of the road in a curve and struck the pole. Neither Ms. Tucker nor her husband and passenger, Paul Tucker were injured in the collision, which heavily damaged the front end of the truck.
