Ronald Kerry Ladd, age 53, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2008, after an accident while horseback riding.

Ronald Ladd and his friend, Freddy Bullington, were ridingalong Westfork Creek Road, in the Rocky Mound area of western Macon County.

The two men on horseback moved over to the shoulder of the road as they met an on-coming vechicle.

Ladd's horse reportedly stepped into a two-foot deep hole, lost its footing and tripped. The horse then fell on Mr. Ladd.

The Macon County Ambulance Service was called and first responders who lived nearby were on the scene.

Ronald Ladd died from the injuries received in the fall. He was an avid horse rider and rode as often as he could. For a complete obituary of Ronald Kerry Ladd, see Section C-page 3 of this week's paper.
