The Macon County, Tenn., native was self-employed, a member of Day's Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church and Trammel Lodge No. 436 F&AM.
He was a son of the late Rudolph Alexander Dawes and Daisy Mae Cothron Dawes.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6,2008 at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. J.B. Shoulders officiating, with burial in Shrum Cemetery. Trammel Lodge No. 436 F & A.M. held rites at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. All master masons were invited to participate.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Dawes; a son, Anthony Dawes of Lafayette, Tenn.; a daughter, Jennifer Robinson and her husband, Joey, of Lafayette, Tenn.; his stepmother, Lorene Dawes of Lafayette, Tenn.; two stepsons, Darrell Sanders of Brownsville and Randy Sanders and his wife, Myia, of Smiths Grove; a stepdaughter, Sandy Emery of Brownsville; two brothers, Harold Dawes and his wife, Joel, and Ralph Dawes and his wife, Audrey, all of Smithville, Tenn.; four sisters, Betty Minchey, Mamie Ruth Davis and her husband, Stanley, Judy Coley and her husband, Jerry, and Kaye Sadler and her husband, Phillip, all of Lafayette, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Dustin Robinson, Tierra Dawes and Dillon Dawes; four stepgrandchildren, Shane Sanders, Jacob Sanders, Owen Emery and Sarah Emery; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
