“His name is Noah, he can hear but can't speak,” came over the police radios shortly after noon on Monday June 30. As chills ran over us, we listened to the emergency traffic.

A three-year-old boy, on Annie Holow Road, had wandered off from his home with his puppy to what was reported to be nearly a mile away.

“The area was very wooded,” said West Macon Rescue Squad member Lavett'e Taylor.

Many departments were instrumental in coming out to help in the recovery of the young boy among them Macon County Sheriff's Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, West Macon Rescue Squad, Macon EMS, and others.

Macon County Sheriff's Department search dogs were sent into the area. Those who arrived to help in the search were asked not to “contaminate” the area, so the dogs could get a scent and a track on the child.

To everyone's relief, police scanner traffic at about 2:30 PM reported the child was found across the hill, “okay,” sitting down with his puppy off West Fork Creek Road.

Prayers of thanks went up when we heard Macon EMS ask if he was okay and the reply came from the man who found Noah, “I've got him in my arms right now.”
