A memorial service and celebration of the life of the late Dale Wright will be held this Friday evening, June 13 at 6 p.m. at the home of his mother, Doris Jenkins, at 519 Swindle Road in Macon County's Galen Community.

Dale Wright was killed in a traffic crash in Jackson County on Friday afternoon, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol crash fatality report..

Jackie D. "Dale" Wright Jr., 47, of Lafayette, died after the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a van, according to a report by THP Trooper Ed Crouch.

The accident happened at 2:30 p.m. June 6 on Highway 151. Wright was driving a 1988 Harley Davidson motorcycle and was headed south on Highway 151 when a van coming from the other direction failed to negotiate a curve, skidded across the double yellow line and hit the motorcyclist. The vehicle that struck Dale Wright was a 1997 Ford van driven by Martin W. Overstreet, 47, of Castillian Springs. The van was traveling north on Hwy. 151 (the North Springs Road).

The driver of the van, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Wright, who was wearing a helmet, died in the head-on crash.

An investigation of the accident is continuing, and charges against the driver of the van are pending further investigation, according to the official crash report.
