* Kendra Dale Carr, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ophie carr, was crowned Little Miss Macon County for 1975. Runners up were Kimberly Dyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Dyer, and April Denise King, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas King.
* Debbie Carter and Jenny Eden were awarded scholarships by the Bera Sigma Phi sorority. Sally Wells made the presentation.
* Fire destroyed a barn on the farm of Earl D. Morgan at Hanestown.
* Mrs. Charles Mayhew attended a Congressional Breakfast in Washington, D.C. in honor of Mrs. Gerald F Ford.
* Clara Cherry, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wayne Cherry, was awarded a plaque by Modern Woodsmen of the World Insurance Company for outstanding achievement in AMerican History at Macon County High.

* Bill Wells was appointed a vice-president of the Jasper Corporation. Wells was general manager of Lafayette Mfg. Co. a division of the Jasper Corporation.
* The Red Boiling Springs High School Band was to participate in the Strawberry Festival at Humbolt, Tn.
* Friday, May 28, 1965 was the last day of public school in the old Lafayette Elementary School building on College Street. The 38-year-old building was being replaced by the new Central Elementary School Building.
* The Red Boiling Springs Post Office moved into their new building the last week in May, 1965. Paul Sadler was postmaster.
* The Lafayette Citry Council voted to take down the traffic lights at College Street and Lafayette Elementary School.

*Work was underway on Lafayette's new swimming pool at City-County Park. Local residents had contributed more thans $11,000 toward the project.
* Jerry Trent was seriously injured when struck by a hit and run driver on Oak Street.
* Bobby Celsor of Hartsville drove his modified stock car to first place in the feature race at Nashville Speedway.
* B and D Auto Supply opened for business in the Oddfellow Building on Main Street. The owners wer Benny Doss and Wayne Butler.
