Rex Hackett, 72, of the Amos Community, died at 8:35 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, TN. The Smith County, TN native was a farmer, former employee of Allen County Farmer's Service, a retired bus driver for the Allen County School System, a member and deacon of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, a former board member of North Central Telephone Cooperative, and a member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #543. He was a son of the late Lorenza D. Hackett and Una Roberts Hackett.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hackett of the Amos Community; son, Michael Hackett of Del Rio, TX; daughter, Lisa Claiborne and her husband, Jimmy of the Amos Community; and 3 grandchildren, Jason Hackett of Holland, TN, Spenser Claiborne and Jared Claiborne, both of the Amos Community.

Funeral services for Rex Hackett were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Hale and Bro. Eddie Wilson officiating. Burial was in Haysville Cemetery.
