Funeral services for Lula Evans Eakle Shuffit were conducted Friday morning, April 11, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Veronica Watson officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Her pallbearers were her family and friends.

Lula Shuffit passed away Tuesday evening, April 8, 2008 at The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN.

She was born December 14, 1914 in Jackson County, TN, the daughter of the late Andrew and Lizzie Johnson Evans. She was married to Loyal Eakle, who preceded her in death on November 17, 2003. Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughters, Amidean Eakle and Ruthie Butler, her son, Eugene Eakle, sisters, Mae McCarter, Inez Caruthers, Marie Hudson and brothers, Dumas, Grover and Robert Evans. She was a former Cook for the Donoho Hotel and the former Palace Hotel in Red Boiling Springs, TN.

Survivors include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Christine & Louie Kirby, Hendersonville, TN, sons & daughters-in-law; Ralph & Clara Eakle, Lafayette, TN, Tommy & Frances Eakle, Metcalf, IL, sisters; Josey McCarter, Hartsville, TN, Maudie Kirby, Red Boiling Springs, TN, 13 grandchildren & 34 great-grandchildren & 27 great-great-grandchildren.
