On a personal note: I would like to take this time to thank all the parents that have allowed their child to play in our league this year.

This coming Tuesday night at Central Elementary we will be having the 6-8 and the 9-12 girls' divisions come in and get their trophies and at 7:00, the 6-8 and the 9-12 boys' divisions will come in and get their trophies.

This has been a very unusual year as we had the tornado that came through over a month ago which put us 2 weeks behind.

By working with the coaches and the principals of Central Elementary and Lafayette Elementary, we were able to reschedule those games.

We would have finished with our league this past Saturday however, once again the weather forced us to cancel as ice and snow covered most of the Tennessee area.

This made it necessary for us to just go ahead and cancel our season out of respect for the other youth leagues in the area. Most of the kids that play in our league are also involved with baseball, soccer, fast-pitch softball or even AAU basketball so out of respect for them, we just called our last games off.

I also want to take this time to thank Mrs. Dawn Thompson, principal of Central Elementary, for allowing us to practice and play our games there and Mr. Terry Marsh, principal of Lafayette Elementary, for allowing us to practice at that school.

I want to thank all of the head coaches and the assistant coaches and everyone that helped keep the scoreboard and the scorebook this year.

I believe that all of our coaches did an excellent job during practices and the games.

I want to thank our referees for working each of our games this year with these being David Thomas, Curt Cline, Joseph Cross, Ben Wheeler, Kris Boone, John Reese Collins, Austin Kemp, Jeremy Phillips and Kyle Deering.

I want to thank my nephew Cody Brawner for keeping the gate this year; Connie Shrum for helping with the sign-ups and the concession stand; and Wildman Cheesy, Frank Nardick and my mother Sue Phillips for coming in and helping clean up after our games.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone again next year for another successful year!
