Mrs. Janie Rulene Harper of Lafayette, died at the age of 90 on Saturday morning, January 26, 2008 at Macon County General Hospital.

Funeral services for Janie Rulene Harper were conducted from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2008, at 1 p.m. with Brother Harold King officiating. Terry Parker, Barry Parker, Mickey Shockley, James Brawner, Nathan Harper, and Lucas Harper served as pallbearers.  Burial followed in the Haysville Cemetery.                                                             

Born Janie Rulene Hire in Macon County, on June 26, 1917, one of nine children to the late William Bailey and Media (Bandy) Hire.  She was married to Leonard Harper, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2000.  Besides her husband and parents; son, Osby Harper, brothers, Earl, Estel, Herbert, and Lee Hire, sisters, Minnie Jones, Leona Hire, Lizzie Graves, and Ethalene Hire preceded her in death.  

Janie had been an employee of F&M Furniture in Lafayette for several years. She was a loving mother who enjoyed piecing quilting in her spare time. She was of the General Baptist Belief. 

She is survived by, son, Gary (Judy) Harper of Lafayette, TN, daughters, Lamon (Carlene) Shockley of Holland, KY, Lorene Parker of Lafayette, TN, and Helen (Albert) Andrews of Lafayette, TN, seven grandchildren , nine great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren
