Mr. Ordis Perdue, better known as “Tom”, a life long farmer of Lafayette, died at the age of 87 on Sunday morning, December 30, 2007 at Macon County General Hospital. 

Funeral services for Mr. “Tom” Perdue were conducted by Elder Dean Dyer and Elder Hilman Duncan from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, January 1, at 11:00 a.m. Charles Wilkerson, Jeff Likens, Bobby Hale, Hollis Bradley, Steve Herbert, and Johnny Smith served as Pallbearers. Burial followed in the Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born Ordis Wilson Perdue in Macon County, Tennessee on September 7, 1920, he was one of seven children of the late Berford Wilson and Sceva Hickman Perdue.

Five siblings preceded him in death: Bill Perdue, Adis Mae Perdue, Velma Curtner, Ruby Burton, and Eurine Akins.

On September 27, 1941, he was united in marriage to the former Inez Keen, who survives. He was a member of the Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church. 

Surviving besides his wife of 66 year are: one daughter, Virginia (Kenneth) Meador of Lafayette, sister, Dorothy Bullington of Lafayette, grandchildren, Tammye (Tim) Hewitt of Lafayette, Chad (Jenna) Meador of Murfreesboro, great-granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Hewitt.
