A treatment facility will have to be rented while the renovation takes place at the current facility. To cover the total expense $150,000 has been slotted for this project. The work should be at least 90 days out. The city approved of an agreement to negotiate a lease of a pond from Hilton Farley for $200 per month over a 10-year period. This will be used to accommodate the overflow into his pond. In this same agreement the city will have the first right of purchase of property.
An Aeronautics grant for $55,000 will enable the city to take bids on improved security lights and gates for Lafayette Municipal Airport.
The City has been authorized to borrow $407,000 to take bids on work from the Spring Creek to the water plant.
An ordinance to annex 13.3 acres of property owned by Chris Tuck on Hwy. 52 and to incorporate same within the corporate boundaries of the City of Lafayette boundaries passed 3rd reading. The official zoning map of the City of Lafayette to be amended to reflect annexed properties passed 1st reading.
A resolution authorizing Mayor Wells to sign a gas purchase agreement with Municipal Gas Acquisition and Supply Corporation (MERC) was voted and agreed on. This would provide a discount on practically all gas for the city. December employee evaluations and salary increases were approved.
A 2.3% cost of living adjustment was passed and will be effective January 2008. This increase will affect only employees that have topped out in their level.
Pay for volunteer fire firefighters at $20 per call for 2007 was approved. To be eligible volunteer can be neither full-time nor part-time with city.
Christmas bonuses of $200 for full time employees and $100 for part time employees were approved. Reba Walrond was reappointed for a 4-year term to the Recreation Advisory Committee. Johnny Woosley was reappointed to the Rural Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO).
Discussion took place over a customer dealing with an unreasonably high water bill.
The City agreed to change the meter, since no cause could be found for problem.
Lafayette Citizens have raised complaints about a section of fence in the city constructed of plastic and pipe. The council response to this was the fence law was changed after this fence in question was put up. The city advised this might be a civil matter, rather than a City Council subject.
