On a super hot evening in Macon County, the Jr. High Tigers prepared for their first football game of the season against the Smith County Owls.

During the first half of the game both teams managed to squeeze in a touchdown. The Tigers 5 - 3 defense worked well and in the second half the Tigers offence found their rhythm.

The Tigers took over the game adding three more touchdowns to the board.

“It feels great,” exclaimed Head Coach Nathan Wilson as he relished in their first victory with a final score of 24 - 6.

“Some mistakes were made and we will be looking at the tape to address those areas,” Coach Wilson explained.

Some spectators praised the passing ability of the Jr. Tigers Quarter Back Dallas Grace.

“Tigers took control of the game on the arm and throwing talent of Dallas Grace,” announcer Tim Case explained as Grace's stats were great.

Grace carried the ball six times for 15 yds with two touchdowns. He completed 12 passes on 22 attempts for 168 yds, with one touchdown and three interceptions.

Tyler Manning had six receptions for 96 yds and Garrett Crowe had three receptions for 46 yds and one touchdown.

The MCJHS Tigers will travel to Springfield to play the Yellow Jackets on August 21 at 7 p.m.
