Tommy Tuck charged with 2 counts attempted murder

Heather Tuck and David McCarter, of Red Boiling Springs, were each left with their throats cut and McCarter with multiple stab wounds to the chest, when the pre-dawn silence of Sunday July 14 was shattered by a brutal knife attack at 148 Windle Lane, Red Boiling Springs, according to Macon County Sheriff's Department reports.

Tommy Nelson Tuck, 38, 1129 Carthage Road, Red Boiling Springs, reported to be the ex-husband of Heather Tuck, was arrested a short time after the alleged assaults occurred and charged with aggravated burglary and two counts of attempted first degree murder.

When Macon County Sheriff's Deputies Mark Brawner, Mark Bartley, and Darrell Taylor arrived on the scene shortly after two a.m. Sunday, they reportedly found the two stabbing victims seriously injured, but still able to communicate.

Tommy Nelson Tuck allegedly entered the home of his ex wife Heather Tuck without her consent, during the early hours of Sunday morning. Tuck reportedly became more aggressive when he discovered David McCarter sleeping in the bedroom.

Tuck pulled a knife and cut his ex-wife's throat before going into the bedroom, cutting David McCarter's throat and stabbing McCarter in the chest multiple times, according to Tuck's arrest warrant.

Tommy Tuck also allegedly made verbal threats to kill each of the victims, during the knife attacks on his ex-wife and her companion,

On July 13, the day before the attacks at Heather Tuck's home, Tommy Tuck told others he had seen his ex-wife and McCarter together, and declared he would not spend another day in prison or jail, according to witnesses interviewed during the early stages of the investigation.

Detective Bill Cothron, who processed the scene of the assaults for evidence, declined requests to disclose specific information about the alleged assaults, the weapon, or witnesses other than the victims while the case is still under investigation.

“We collect evidence at the scene and log it in; then we process the evidence. If further processing is needed, we send it to the TBI lab in Nashville,” the detective explained.

Heather Tuck reportedly had an active order of protection on her ex-husband based on previous domestic episodes.

Heather Tuck and David McCarter were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained during the alleged attacks early Sunday morning.

Tommy Nelson Tuck remains in the Macon County Jail, under $510,000 bond. Tuck appeared in General Sessions Court Tuesday, July 18 to face aggravated burglary and attempted murder charges. Results were unavailable at press time.
