Tavern owner Vicky Bristow and Bruce Emmit were arrested Friday May 25, charged with possession of Methamphetamine and Marijuana. Other charges are pending on completion of an investigation of the alleged theft and transfer of weapons reported stolen in Macon County and recovered at Emmit's residence April 23.

Friday's arrests were the the result of cooperative efforts between the Macon County and Clay County Sheriff's Departments.

Pistols and holsters reported stolen from a Hailey Springs Road residence in Macon County were recovered, along with quantities of marijuana, marijuana buds, and a small amount of methamphetamine, at 561 Jenkins Village Circle, Red Boiling Springs, during the April 23 search, according to the Macon County Sheriff's Department.

Acting on a tip alleging stolen weapons were stored at the Red Boiling Springs residence near the Clay County line, Sheriff Gammons reportedly contacted Clay County Sheriff James Storie for assistance.

When Detective Bill Cothron and Sheriff Mark Gammons arrived at 561 Jenkins Village Circle, in April, they met Clay County Sergeant Mott and spoke with Bruce Emmit who reported Vicki Bristow was also present in the residence, according to Detective Cothron.

During a search of the premises, for which Detective Cothron and Sheriff Gammons reportedly obtained written consent, Detective Cothron noticed what appeared to be marijuana joints in an ashtray.

In response to the detective's inquiry about the use and presence of other drugs, Bristow reached into her purse and produced a small plastic bag that she said contained marijuana, according to the detective.

“I then asked to see Ms. Bristow's purse and she became very nervous and was attempting to conceal a brown paper bag underneath her,” Detective Cothron stated.

In addition to discovery that the brown paper bag contained a material known as marijuana buds, Bristow's purse was found to contain two blue moneybags with contents totaling $1,116. The money bags and the purse were also reported to contain residual amounts of Marijuana, Detective Cothron reported.

Pistols and holsters reported stolen in Macon County were discovered during a search of the vehicles owned by Bristow and Emmit, according to Sheriff's Department records.

During the authorized search of the vehicles, more marijuana was reportedly found as well as a small amount of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine wrapped in burned aluminum foil, Detective Cothron reported.

Clay County Sheriff Storie requested Sheriff Gammons' assistance when the arrest warrants for Bristow and Emmit were served Friday May 25.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department reportedly seized the drugs and money found during the search, as well as a Green Mercedes Benz owned by Emmit.

The pistols were taken to the Macon County Sheriff's Department where they were identified by the owner, Candace York. Further charges are pending completion of the investigation in connection with the theft and transfer of the weapons, according to Detective Cothron.
