B.D. Polston & Son Celebrates Customers
For fifty three years, the Polston family has provided the bricks and mortar, lumber and nails, paint and paneling, windows, doors-and so much more-to serve the construction needs of Macon County.
Conveniently located, and sprawling across both sides of the street, at 905 Red Boiling Springs Rd., Lafayette, Polston's offers quality building materials and service that has kept loyal customers coming back year after year.
B. D. Polston opened his doors for business in 1954. Today, son Tony and grandson Matt uphold the family tradition of quality products, fair dealing, and customer appreciation.
Thursday April 26 the Polstons hosted Contractor Day with a barbeque lunch. Vendors were on hand offering tool specials, tool trade-in opportunities, and tool repair.
“This is an annual event. We do it in appreciation of all the contractors that trade with us throughout the year,” LaRue Polston explained, lifting the cover off a piping hot tray of barbeque.
The intermittent heavy rain Thursday morning didn't dampen the spirits of the Contractor Day celebration in the least as friends and loyal customers gathered for lunch and visited with the vendors on site for the annual event.
Vendors representing Moore Handley, DeWalt, Prime Source, and Stanley Bostitch displayed their wares, conferred with customers, and repaired tools throughout the morning.
Contractors visited vendor booths in the side yard to examine the latest new offerings in tools and materials and to have trusty old reliable tools fine tuned.
“This is a good service; it keeps the guys out there working; and there aren't a lot of people out there who do this kind of repairs,” John Massey of Stanley Bostitch smiled, test firing a just repaired pneumatic staple gun.
Polston customers report coming back year after year, project after project, because they can count on quality products, and it's clear they feel appreciated.
“I come here because it's a local business; it's locally owned,” Rickie Carter declared.
“I just come here because the owner's wife is pretty,” another diner laughed as he asked LaRue for a refill of tea.
With plates piled high with barbeque, beans, slaw and pickles the comfortable bantering continued covering every topic from kids to construction.
Judging from the smiles all around, Contractor Day was enjoyed by all; and B.D. Polston & Son is a place customers have come to count on for quality building materials and friendly service with a home town touch.
