Pearl Lena Scruggs, age 94, of the Green Grove Community of Macon County, passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at Trousdale Medical Center in Hartsville, TN. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Sloan officiating. Great-great-grandchildren, Logan Bergdorf, Randy Rolin, Jacob Langford and Joshua Langford served as honorary pallbearers. Great-grandsons, Timothy Pursley, Christopher Cato, John Gregory, Travis Rolin, Steven Rolin and David Carter served as active pallbearers. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery.

Pearl Lena Scruggs was born on Friday, March 15, 1912 in Macon County, TN, the daughter of the late John and Nancy Elizabeth Cook Farley. In 1928, she was married to Ethward Scruggs, who preceded her in death. Besides her husband and parents, sons, Lelan Ray, Donald C. and Carl Gene Scruggs; daughter, Elizabeth Jane Scruggs; brothers, an infant, Johnny, Tom, Gene, Hagar, Dewey and Jess Farley; sister, Ann Gammons; and great-grandchild, Melinda Scruggs, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and was a member of Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Earl Dean “Dee Dee” Scruggs, Green Grove Community; daughters, Clara Rolin, Fairview Community, Gail Roddy and Lelan Scruggs, Green Grove Community, Nancy (Donnie) Langford, Eulia Community; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
