Approximately 75 employees of Tennplasco, in Lafayette, received the news last week that they were being laid off. One hundred fifteen individuals are still employed at the Lafayette business and no further lay-offs are planned at this time, according to Tennplasco management.

“One of our largest customers had severe reductions in their schedules, and of course that impacts us,” said Don Roberts, Tennplasco General Manager.

Tennplasco is a custom plastics injection molding and...finishing operation that produces large plastic parts for everything from lawn and garden items to medical equipment and electronics.

“This is an unfortunate situation for us and for the community,” Roberts explained; “but we are in the process of researching new customers; and if they come on board, it will lessen the impact and the need for reductions,” the General Manager added.
