Four people were killed, including a married couple from Red Boiling Springs, and a fifth individual was injured in a three-vehicle collision on Kentucky State Highway 163 in Monroe County Monday night, October 2, at approximately 7:15 p.m.
Larry D. Hawkins and Dimple M. Hawkins both of Red Boiling Springs were passengers in a 1998 Ford driven by Grover Evans. Both husband and wife, a third passenger Robert E. Calvin of Tompkinsville, and Evans were pronounced dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner's Office.
Kentucky authorities said, Grover Evans, of Tompkinsville was traveling south on Kentucky State Highway 163 in a 1998 Ford Contour when he ran into the back of a farm tractor and implement driven by Druie Wood, age 45, of Tompkinsville.
Following the collision with the farm implement, the vehicle rolled onto it's side into the northbound lane, where it was then struck by a Chevrolet pick-up driven by a 16-year-old juvenile of Tompkinsville.
Wood, the driver of the tractor, was not injured, and the juvenile was treated and released at the Monroe County Hospital.
Kentucky State Police accident reconstructionist, Trooper Toby Young conducted the investigation with additional on-scene assistance from Trooper Ricky Brooks, Sgt. Ken Hill, The Monroe County Coroner's Office, Rescue Squad, and Sheriff's Department.
Larry D. Hawkins and his wife Dimple M. Hawkins were both employed with Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette and Red Boiling Springs.
Complete funeral arrangements have not been released.
Funeral arrangements for Grover Evans and Robert E. Calvin have been made at the Yokley-Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville. The funerals have been set for Thursday, October 5, at 1 p.m.
