Mr. Clyde Cantor, age 85, a retired farmer of the Bagdad Community in Smith County, passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 16, 2006 at Carthage General Hospital of pneumonia.

Edward L. Anderson & Donald Chaffin officiated at the 1:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors was in Witcher Cemetery in Bagdad.

Mr. Cantor was married to the former Helen Daphne Givens, who survives. He was born in the Difficult Community on October 1, 1920, a son of the late George Allen and Viola Belle Sircy Cantor. He was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Belle Cantor Cook and a brother, William Jasper “J.W.” Cantor. He was inducted into the US Army in 1942. He was a veteran of World War II. He was awarded four bronze stars and honorably discharged on October 24, 1945. He was a member of Bagdad Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years is a daughter, Fay Leonard of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Ronnie Leonard, Jr., Eric Leonard and wife Lesa, Daniel Leonard and wife Leah, Benjamin Leonard and wife Michelle, Melissa Leonard; sister, Sue Helen Cantor; nine great-grandchildren.
