Michael D. McLeary, 45, of Lafayette was reported to be the driver of a 1990 GMC pick-up, traveling west on KY 87, that crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 1994 Chevrolet pick-up reported to be driven by Joel E. Brown, 55, also of Lafayette.
The two trucks collided, when Brown's truck swerved to avoid hitting McLeary's vehicle, according to Kentucky Trooper M. Dubre.
Brown was treated at the scene for minor injuries, by Monroe County EMS, but David L, Krantz, a passenger in Brown's truck, was airlifted to Vanderbilt. No seat belts were in use in either vehicle, according to Dwaine Barnett, Public Affairs Officer with the Kentucky State Police.
Motions Carried to hire new RBSPD Officer and to purchase new truck
In a special meeting of the RBS City Council, held Tuesday September 19, the Council voted to hire James Anthony Warner as a full time patrol officer with the RBS Police Department. The Council also voted to purchase a 2007 Chevrolet truck from Bill Heard Chevrolet, for $13,500.
During the regular Council meeting on September 14, Chief Tuck recommended calling a special meeting for the purpose of hiring a new officer because officers were working overtime.
"I've been over all the applications, and I think Warner would be the best person to fill our needs on this job," RBS Police Chief Terry Tuck said, during the September 14 RBS Council meeting, when he first recommended Warner for the new officer position.
At the special meeting on September 19, the motion to hire Warner was made by Jim Roark with a second from Tommy Spivey.
