“This situation was not a good fit for the City of Lafayette at this time,” said Lafayette Mayor Bill Wells.
The owner of the former RBS gas company has filed for bankruptcy and the business will be sold. At this time several motions have been filed in the office of Macon County Clerk and Master in regards to the business in RBS.
Receivership Management, Inc., is recommending that the assets of the utility department be sold to a non-profit organization based in Cookeville for an estimated amount of $250,000. This recommendation is just that, a recommendation. At this time, no one has signed on the dotted line. This is apparantly only a proposal.
Other items on the September 5th agenda include the request from Lafayette Police Chief Jerry Dallas to purchase a narcotic detector/police control dog. At this time, the force has someone who is trained in K-9 narcotic work.
Mayor Wells announced the fall clean-up week for the city will be the week of October 9th thru the 13th.
