Initial reports of what caused a wreck on Tuesday afternoon, August 15 at about 1:40 p.m. were incorrect. After interviews with the drivers, THP Trooper Neil Ferguson and Sgt. Butch Avera determined that a 1994 Ford Explorer driven by L.V. Scoggins, 45, was traveling south on Hwy. 10 (the Scottsville Road) when a 1993 Ford Ranger pickup traveling north and driven by Dylan Loyd, 18, turned left to enter the Cold Springs Road, striking the left front corner of Scoggins' southbound vehicle. The impact turned the Ford Ranger pickup 180 degrees and left it in the roadway pointed south, while the Ford Explorer went off the roadway and struck a rock wall at the south side of the Cold Springs Road where it intersects with Hwy. 10.

The initial report correctly stated that Loyd was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center by life flight helicopter. However, Scoggins was transported to Baptist Hospital in Nashville, also by helicopter. First reports had both drivers transported to Vanderbilt.

Macon County Sheriff's Department Capt. Taylor and Deputy Wagoner assisted in the investigation.

We regret the errors in our first reporting of the accident.
