Critically injured pedestrian identified

A 19 year-old woman, who apparently stepped out into the path of a 1985 GMC truck Tuesday morning, has been identified by Lafayette Police as Elvia F. Solis, 701 Oak Street Apt. A, Lafayette. The woman was seriously injured when she was struck by the vehicle driven by James Lee Holland, Ferguson Hill Road, Lafayette. Witnesses told police investigators the woman stepped out into the road without looking and was about half-way across the eastbound lanes when struck by the truck. A Macon County Ambulance returning from a run to Red Boiling Springs was traveling by just as the accident occurred, and within 7 minutes the injured woman was aboard a helicopter and transported to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, where she was reported to be in critical condition.
