Rescue Squads from as many as thirty different Tennessee and Kentucky localities continue to search for the body of 16-year old Johnathan Hudson, who apparently drowned when he fell from a small boat on Monday afternoon, March 27th.

The recovery crews are working with as many as twelve to fifteen boats tied together in order to sweep areas as wide as a football field, according to Ronnie Mowell who has been reporting for the local radio stations from the scene.

The search areas are two locations on the lake near Indian Creek, on the south end of the lake not far from the Dale Hollow Dam.

"There are a lot of people here who are professionals in the task of recovering the bodies of drowning victims," explained Mowell. "One crew has a 3-4 ft. in circumference drag, and they use a technique they call 'chugging' to plumb the bottom and bring up anything it finds---they just brought up a large tree limb not long ago," said Mowell this Tuesday at mid-morning.

Crews have been searching every day since the boating incident last Monday evening which apparently took the young man's life. Because of the weather crews left early last Friday, but returned Saturday and Sunday. Eleven divers were in the cold... waters of the lake Sunday, and four more from the Crossville Rescue Squad and Fire Department joined the search this Tuesday,

"The Crossville divers are equipped with much better equipment with the right gases mixed in their air tanks to enable them to stay down for extended periods of time," continued Mowell. "The other divers have only been able to stay down at the extreme depths (over 100 feet) for 10-15 minutes at a time."

A professional recovery diving team told Mowell that in their experience it often takes many months before a lost body comes to the surface on its own. However, in most all cases the eventual recovery is made within one-eighth of a mile from the original location of the accident.

Severe weather Monday night may have produced enough turbulence deep enough in the waters of the lake to make a recovery more likely. Corp of Engineers officials at the dam have limited generation activity since the presumed drowning to assist in the recovery operation.

A Rescue Squad crew with three boats and high tech sonar equipment from Wayne County arrived Tuesday morning of this week to join in the search.

A complete list of Rescue Squads and other professional volunteers participating in the search will appear in next week's paper.
