Mr. Ovie Gene Ragland, 70, of Dearing, Georgia, and a native of Macon County, Tennessee, passed away Friday, March 3, 2006 at his residence. The Macon County, Tennessee native was a member of the Silver Run Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He retired from the A & P Supermarket and from the McDuffie County School System as a bus driver for 13 years. He was an Army Veteran during the Berlin Crisis, and was a son of the late Rullie and Stella Ragland.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marie Ragland, Sparta, GA, 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Pat Ragland Schuller, Nashville, TN; Tonia and Buck Thompson, Mantachie, TN; a sister, Estelle Whittemore, Lafayette, TN; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Ovie Gene Ragland were conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, March 6, 2006 at Silver Run Baptist Church near Harlem, Georgia with Rev. Jerry Pitman officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Butch Blount, Sonny Welch, Derrick Whitaker, Lucky Walker, Jeff Hunt, and Lee Smith.
