The Bulldogs from Red Boiling Springs were hoping to extend their season when they reached the district tournament. They played Pickett County this past Tuesday night, and those hopes came to an end.

Pickett County had two players who combined for more than half of their team's total points with 27 points. The first quarter was close, and it was very evident how much each team wanted to win this game. The winner would advance and be guaranteed a spot in the region tournament, and the loser would go home. The Bobcats outscored the Bulldogs, but by only 1 point. In the second quarter, both teams picked up their defense. Pickett still outscored RBS, 8-4. This gave them a 5 point lead going into the locker room.

The third quarter had each team scoring 14 points, but the Bulldogs were still down by 5 going into the fourth quarter. It was now or never for the Bulldogs. As much as they tried, they just couldn’t pull it out. The Bobcats outscored the Bulldogs by 5 points, for a 10 point victory.

Senior Sam Jones made his last game one to remember, scoring 16 points. His senior teammates Heath Dodson and Dexter White each added 7. Dustin Dozier and Tyson Jenkins had 4 apiece for a team total of 38.

Congratulations are in order for the entire Bulldog team, but a special good luck goes to the Seniors. Sam Jones, Heath Dodson, and Dexter White, best of luck in your future and congratulations on your accomplishments in basketball.
