TIMES employees will be accepting Christmas wish letters to Santa Claus, creating holiday ornaments and supplying Christmas scenes to color and take home during the second annual Christmas on the Square.

The Christmas on the Square celebration, in Lafayette, will feature letter writing, coloring and doughnut-eating contests to keep kids in the holiday spirit.

“The TIMES is very excited to be part of this celebration for families in the community,” said Judy Scantland, TIMES publisher. “We feel very fortunate to have a location on the square which has been home to the TIMES for over 80 years.”

Elsewhere around the square, you will find horse and carriage rides, enjoy seeing decorating ideas at the flower shops, taste test Christmas goodies from local cafes and bake shops, and hear story telling at offices around the square. Businesses will be open for holiday shopping and kids will be invited to have their photo taken with Santa.

Quaint buildings will be decorated, free hot chocolate and holiday goodies will be served to guests, and entertainment will be provided with singing on the courthouse lawn.

Copies of the TIMES Holiday cookbook insert will be available with prize winning recipes inside.

Christmas on the Square will be held Friday, November 18, 2005 beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
