Mrs. Ruth Hackett, age 84, of the Monoville Community in Smith County died Monday, October 10, 2005 at the Carthage General Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services were conducted on October 13th from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and burial followed in the family plot at the Hackett Cemetery in Kempville. Her pastor, Bro. Steve Waller officiated at the 3:00 p.m. services

Born April 10, 1921 in Kempville, she was one of three children of the founders in 1928 of the Hackett Funeral Home in Kempville, James Leslie “J.L.” and Willie Bebe McCall Hackett.

Her mother sold the firm to Sanderson Funeral Home in Carthage on September 1, 1971.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Reba G. Reece and her brother, Roy G. Hackett. Mrs. Hackett was a retired seamstress for the Hartsville Blouse Factory and the Carthage Shirt Corporation.

She was a charter member of the Kempville Chapel Old Time Methodist Church.

Surviving her is her daughter, Charlotte Fox and devoted son-in-law, Richard Fox III of Hermitage and sister-in-law, Evelyn Hackett of Brooks Bend.
