Former RBS Mayor Willa Gray Knight passes away

Former RBS Mayor Willa Gray Spivey Knight, died September 8, from complications from ongoing heart disease. She was 71. Mayor Willa Gray served as mayor from 1998 to 1999. As acting vice mayor, she was sworn into the office as the County's first and only female mayor when the mayor elect could not fulfill the duties. Among her many accomplishments as mayor she was instrumental in supporting the Chamber of Commerce. Co-workers said she was always very good to city employees, honest, and worked for the city of Red Boiling Springs. "When she was around, nothing seemed impossible." said city employee Paulette Pippin "It was always a pleasure working with her."

Willa Gray also served on the Red Boiling Springs City Council from 1997-2005 where she didn't seek re-election due to her declining health.

She also served as a supervisor for the Cordell Hull Head Start with 28 years of service.
