The Macon County High School Tigers have been working their tails off the past couple of weeks, in preparation of the grueling 10 game regular season schedule that awaits them. Last week the Tigers traveled to Clay County where they came away with an impressive 49-7 victory. This past Saturday, theTigers traveled to Hartsville for the Tobacco Bowl Jamboree, where they took on the 5A team of Wilson Central. This was set up in games of two quarters, with most teams playing their starters a couple of series. Overall the Tigers didn't look terrible, especially since they were sure to just run their basic plays and not tip any future opponents on what they may actually do in certain situations. Michael Dalla scarried the ball several times for MCHS, with his biggest gain coming from an 18 yard burst up the sideline that he almost broke for a touchdown. The defense yielded 21 points to the Wildcats in only two quarters, but they did several things well. We made several plays behind the line of scrimmage and forced Wilson Central in third and long on several occasions; however we got to learn to make that one extra stop so we can get the ball back. The Tigers who ended up losing 21-0 got alittle confidence boost earlier this week, when the Tennessean released it's Midstate top 10 poll and Wilson Central was listed at number 10. Macon County has to quickly put this game behindthem, as they will travel to Trousdale County once again this week. The Tigers open up on Friday, August 19th in Yellow Jacket country. Kick off is set for 7:00 P.M. The YellowJackets also got roughed up a little in the jamboree, as they fell to the Westmoreland Eagles 14-0. This has all the makings for an exciting game, and I hope to see the stands packed rooting on the hometown squad!
