In an emergency, every second counts and Devona Wright's new job is make the community aware of a life saving service. Devona is the membership coordinator for Air Evac and her plans are to see membership grow ensuring patients get to help faster.

Devona replaced Bob Valerio in late May as part of the Air Evac team. She lives in Tompkinsville, KY and is mother to a son and daughter, 8 year old Jade and 3 year old Summer.

Devona's duties includes renewals, documenting address changes, and issuing car stickers, home stickers and membership cards.

All members receive membership cards with instructions to place the card behind their driver's license. If they are involved in any type of accident this alerts emergency crews to call Air Evac. The house and car stickers serve the same purpose. Placed on the back car window or on the front door of a member's home gives emergency crews the same alert. When medics see the door sticker they know to look for special package in the member's refrigerator containing pertinent information such blood type, allergies, and health history allowing the patient to receive immediate treatment.

She is also in charge of making sure Air Evac is represented at local events. "Any time there is festival, fair, or other area event, we will have a booth loaded with information and we will also present programs when time permits." Davona said.

Air Evac has 57 bases in rural areas each staffed with a pilot, RN and paramedic. See says on average they receive at least one call per day. The bottom line of becoming an Air Evac member is supporting the community by saving patients money. Membership allows the base to operate in a rural area and members have no out of pocket expenses for using the Air Evac service. "When a member has to use Air Evac their insurance pays a specific dollar amount. We accept that amount as payment in full, the member never has to pay anything above what the insurance company has allotted. If a member is uninsured, their membership fee covers the cost of services, again no out of pocket cost are assumed by our members." said Davona.

Air Evac Lifeteam has been serving rural communities with air ambulance care since 1985. They provide fast, professional, safe and courteous emergency medical service with trained crews and helicopter transport to rapidly get patients to the nearest medical facility.

Davona promises there will never be an increase in rates and no one will be canceled. She invites everyone to give her a call or stop by and she will be glad to explain the advantages and cost of membership while obtaining her goal of seeing everyone become a member.
