Joshua Lynn Mince-Diaz is reportedly still at large after he escaped from work detail Monday, June 13.
Mince-Diaz was working on a pothole crew with the Macon County Highway Department Monday when he reportedly slipped away from the job.
Macon County Sheriff Joe Ferguson stated that the highway department contacted the sheriff's department Monday morning around 9 a.m. They reported to the department that the person overseeing the crew of two men had stepped into the woods to use the bathroom and Mince-Diaz just ran off.
Sheriff Ferguson stated that the inmate was wearing leg shackles and the mandated orange uniform when he escaped.
Mince-Diaz listed a home address of Castalian Springs. Trousdale County Sheriff's Department, Westmoreland Police Department, and Sumner County Sheriff's Department were immediately notified of the situation. The dispatcher also put out a be on the look out "BOLO" for the escapee in surrounding states.
Sheriff Ferguson stated that Mince-Diaz was originally held on charges of violation of probation for forgery and theft charges. It was rumored that he was being held on an indictment charge of armed robbery. Jail Administrator Brad Murphy said this was not true.
The sheriff's department would not release a photograph of the escapee but gave a detailed description of the man.
He is reportedly a 21-year-old white male, 6'2 in height, weighs 205 lb. He reportedly has tattoos on both arms and abdomen area and a scar on his right shoulder. He has black hair, cut very short, and hazel eyes. He also has a goatee.
Sheriff Ferguson said, "We do not consider him to be a violent threat. The public should be aware of him and contact your local law enforcement office if you have seen Mince-Diaz." The sheriff's department can be reached by calling 666-3325.
