On Thursday, May 19, Lafayette Police Officer Kevin Woodard was dispatched to the Macon County High School baseball field house to investigate a report of stolen items.

Upon arrival, Officer Woodard spoke to Wayne Deering, baseball coach, who stated that he came into the field house at approximately 6:45 a.m. and found the back door unlocked. He then went to leave and noticed that the CD player on the television stand was turned around backwards. He stated that he believed some of the baseball players were playing a joke on him.

He stated that he then left and went to the school. He returned later for practice and several of the players informed him that the Playstation 2, eight games, and five controllers were missing from the building. They looked around and found that their radar gun was also missing. This gun is used to clock the speed of the balls as they come across home plate. Several balls were missing from one ball case and an entire case of balls was missing.

Officer Woodard reported that there was no sign of forced entry.

Total amount of items reported stolen is $1469. This case is still under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department.
