Mrs. Margaret Givens, 78, a homemaker of the Buffalo Community, died Friday afternoon May 6, 2005 at Carthage General Hospital following a brief illness.
Services from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted by Bro. Steve Waller and Eld. Jeff Patterson on Sunday , May 8 at 4:00 p.m. Burial was in Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Givens was married to James Ezra "Buck" Givens on Christmas Eve, 1945. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2000 after almost fifty years of marriage.
Born Mary Margaret Swann on September 26, 1926 in the Defeated Creek Community, she was the daughter of the late George Esker and Mai C. Lankford Swann. Mrs. Givens was of the old fashion Baptist belief.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Givens and wife Brenda, Ricky Givens and wife Vickie, Howell Givens and wife Dee Ann all of Buffalo; three sisters, Mildred Hackett of Gallatin, Nancy McCall of Defeated Creek, Doris Wood and husband Bobby of Lafayette; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
