Lafayette Chief of Police Jerry Dallas reported in an interview Tuesday morning that Trousdale County Sheriff's Department requested mutual aid from the Lafayette Special Operation Response Team for a situation on Woodmore Hollow Road in Trousdale County, Thursday, May 5th.

The response team, made up of six members, responded after a Trousdale County man allegedly made threats in a letter he sent to President Bush.

Jerry Halliburton of Woodmore Hollow Lane was shot and killed after he opened fire on Trousdale County Deputy David Winnett. Halliburton was a man with a history of mental illness. Authorities have not released the name of the person they believed fired the shot that killed Halliburton. However, it has been reported that two Trousdale County deputies and one Lafayette policeman fired their weapons. Chief Dallas reported that the City of Lafayette shooting review board met Monday afternoon and after hearing evidence ruled that the Lafayette Swat team took proper actions and followed procedures according to state law.

Authorities at the scene included the Trousdale County Sheriff's Department, members of the Lafayette Swat team, and the Secret Service.
