The Macon County Junior High Softball team opened up their season against Davidson Academy early last week. The Tigerettes showed the early season rust that can more than likely be associated with lack of playing. The Lady Bears scored four runs in the first and five in the second to take control of the game and win by a final score of 9-1. The Tigerettes lone bright spot on offense came in the second inning as Tori Key reached on an error and later scored on a Kayci Freeman single, the only hit of the day for MCJH. Chandra Brooks took the loss for the Tigerettes, however after surrendering nine runs in two innings she held the Lady Bears scoreless the rest of the way.

MCJH followed this game up by hosting Trousdale County. The Tigerettes got the bats going early and often in this one, as they pushed 10 runs across the plate to shut out the Lady Jackets by a final score of 10-0. Brooks was once again the pitcher of record for Macon County as she moved to 1-1 on the year. Sabrina Stover and Kally Vinson both had great days at the plate collecting singles and scoring two runs each. Amber King also fared well on offense with a triple and a run. This win moves the Tigerettes to 1-1 on the season. The Tigerettes were in action again on Monday, March 21st as they traveled to Monroe County, KY. Stats from this game will appear in next week's paper. MCJH will be in action again on Thursday, March 24th as they prepare to travel to Clay County.
