She was born Feb. 4, 1918, the daughter of the late Lula Mae (Butler) Clark and Fred Edwin Clark. She was married to Durrell Elmo Clark, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and member of Jefferson Ave. Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise & Donald Ray Birdwell of Red Boiling Springs, Frances Roach of Cookeville, TN; five granchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, 10 a.m. in the chapel of Upton Funeral Home in Celina, TN, officiated by Gary Hampton and Jack Honeycutt. Interment was in Fitzgerald Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kyle Birdwell, Derik Birdwell, Daniel Birdwell, Tyler Birdwell, Patrick Birdwell and Dustin Birdwell.

Sandra Kay Claywell
Sandra Kay Claywell, 60, of Lafayette, Tennessee, formerly of the Brattontown Community, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Friday, July 28, 1944, a daughter of the late Dick Celton Hauskins and Idell Sanders Hauskins. She was a member of Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church, a retired nurses aide for the Macon County Health Department, and was the wife of Jimmy Claywell.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jimmy Claywell, Lafayette, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Dickie and Vickie Claywell, Red Boiling Springs, TN; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Bertha Hauskins; Keith and Angie Hauskins, all of Lafayette, TN; a sister, DeAnna Hauskins, Gallatin, Tn; 2 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Anthony Claywell.
Funeral services for Sandra Kay Claywell were conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Anthony Hale and Eld. Terry Austin officiating. Jerry Wayne Daniel
Jerry Wayne Daniel, age 52, died Dec. 6, 2004.
He is survived by his wife, Modena; son, Shawn (Jennifer) Daniel; parents, Golden & Daisy Daniel; sister, Joetta Hill; brother, James (Sue Ann) Daniels; step-daughters, Andrea (Jean-Claude) Rizk, Kelli (Joel) Fortner; and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 in the chapel of Crawford Funeral Home in Antioch, TN. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Hattie Ferrell Hodges
Hattie Ferrell Hodges, 94, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Quality Health Care in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Smith County, Tennessee native was born Saturday, September 10, 1910, a daughter of the late Allen Carey Winfree and Nellie Elizabeth Timberlake Winfree, and was a retired school teacher for Macon County Schools and Smith County Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lafayette. She served her Lord in several positions including church secretary and librarian. Prior to moving to Lafayette in 1959, she lived most of her life in Smith County. She was a previous member of First Baptist Church in Carthage where she served as president of the Women's Missionary Union. Along with her husband, she taught Sunday School at Sullivan's Bend Mission in Smith County. She was united in marriage to Robert Waterman Hodges, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1964.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carey and Leon Ivy, Killen, Alabama; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Margaret Hodges, Lafayette, TN; a brother, Victor Sullivan Winfree, Hartsville, TN; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Davis Reed "Jimmy Joe" Winfree; 2 sisters, Florence Everett McHood and Allen Carey Plutz, 2 infant brothers, and a granddaughter, Linda Ivy Doran.
Funeral services for Hattie Ferrell Hodges were conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, December 10, 2004 at Lafayette First Baptist Church with Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial was in Ridgewood Cemetery in Carthage. Active pallbearers were Tony Cook, Robert William Hodges, Kyle Turner, Jeff Whittemore, Billy King, and Don Stevens. Lois Jones, 79, of 513 Carter St., Scottsville, KY, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004 at her residence.
The Green Valley, TN native was a homemaker and member of Maple Grove General Baptist Church and attended Corinth General Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Emzahire Fletcher Meador and Naomi Stovall Meador and wife of the late Charles Woodrow "C.W." Jones.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Barbara Kay Jones, Portland; one brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Vera Meador, Scottsville; two sisters, Christine Brown, Scottsville and Donnie Law, Morgantown, IN; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Meador, Scottsville and Fonzie Meador, Lafayette; two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Buel, Raymond, Wilbert, Melvin and Carline Meador; and four sisters, Clarice Woodard, Eunice Gilliam, Laura Law and Eula Meador.

Mary Knight
Mary Magline Blankenship Knight, 85, of Indianapolis, IN died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2004 in Indianapolis. The Hazel, TN native was a homemaker. She was a daughter of the late Charlie Blankenship and Emmer Jones Blankenship.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert O. Knight, Indianapolis; one son, Jim C. Knight, Indianapolis; one sister, Estell Graves, Lafayette; one grandson.

Funeral services for Vestal Leonard, age 61, of Carthage and formerly of Red Boiling Springs, TN, were conducted Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with E.C. Meadows officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were the past & present employees of the William L. Bonnell Company in Gordonsville, TN. Active Pallbearers were his family and friends. Interment followed in Whitley Cemetery.
Vestal Leonard passed away Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2004 at the Smith County Memorial Hospital in Carthage, TN.
A native of Macon County, TN, he was the son of Porter & Mary Ellen Knight Leonard. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Leonard. He was a Die Repairman for William L. Bonnell in Gordonsville, TN with 36 years of service.
Survivors include daughter, Tina (Tony) Presley, Lafayette, son; Marty (Tracy) Leonard, Portland, sisters; Ruby (Louie) Newberry, Rita (Jerry) Hix, Donna Davidson, Jean (Lennis) Cherry all of Red Boiling Springs, Reba (Roger) Ferguson, Rockdale, TX, brothers; Ed (Joan) Leonard, Danny Leonard, Benny Leonard, Barry Leonard all of Red Boiling Springs, Hugh Wayne Leonard, Bowling Green, KY, five grandchildren.

Virginia Ruth Taylor
Virginia Ruth Taylor, age 76, of Gamaliel, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. She was born in Monroe Co., KY on June 24, 1928, to the late James Edward Driver and Senia Krantz Driver. She was a member of the Sadler's Chapel United Methodist Church, a homemaker, and the widow of Paul Taylor, who died Dec. 21, 1990. They were married Dec. 21, 1947, in Shively, KY.
She is survived by one daughter: Barbara Taylor Hodges of Nashville, TN; one brother: Richard Edward Driver of Nashville, TN; four sisters: Orilla Wilson of Red Boiling Springs, TN (her twin sister), Viola Cole, Bettye Hale,and Janet Ramsey, all of Lafayette, TN; one grandson and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Corbin Ralph Taylor.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Strode's Gamaliel Chapel. Bro. Bengie Blackwell & Bro. Jeremy Yokley officiated. Burial was in the Gamaliel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Donnie Cherry, Raymond Wilson, Joey Hackett, Jesse Emberton, Todd Taylor, and Thomas Cropper.
