---small amount of damage reported

A small fire was reported by the milk man at Westside school Saturday morning, December 4. According to a report from Don Stevens with the Lafayette Fire Department, the fire is believed to have started from a drink machine in the cafeteria. Reportedly, the milk man arrived at the school Saturday morning and found heavy smoke and the alarm to the school ringing. He reportedly contacted the fire department. According to Jones, the school suffered a small amount of damage.

Director of Schools, Mike Prock, stated that Doc Air, a clean up crew, cleaned the area Sunday and the school reopened Monday as usual.
