At approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, the Macon County Sheriff's Department received a call that someone was attempting to kick the front door at the office of Dr. Robert Ladd at the Westside Family Pratice.
Deputies Tim Wright, Michael Veatch, Detective Mark Gammons, and Sgt. Darrell Taylor responded to the scene. When they arrived, they spoke to several witnesses and determined that a white male had attempted to enter the office by breaking a window. Blood was reportedly found at the scene on a window seal.
Authorities spoke with several witnesses. One witness stated that a man had attempted to enter the building through a window. He then allegedly jumped in the road in front of Dr. Ladd's office and attempted to obtain a ride from another witness. She stated the subject was bleeding from his hand.
After obtaining information from the witnesses, officers determined the man responsible was Kenneth Eugene Barnett. Officers arrived at his home, near the clinic. They observed a shirt, matching the description of the man at the office, in the house. This gave the officers enough probable cause to make and arrest. Barnett was taken into custody and charged with burglary, vandalism, and violation of probation.
His court date has been set for November 3, for burglary and vandalism and November 10, for violation of probation.
