Gerald Ronald Wilder entered a plea of guilty to second degree murder Thursday, September 9, in the criminal court of Macon County. The case was originally set to go to trial in September with Wilder charged with first degree murder.
He will serve 20 years with no chance of parole.
Wilder was charged with the stabbing death of his wife Sharon L. Wilder in 2003. The incident occurred on Red Bud Road in Red Boiling Springs. Sharon Wilder reportedly died at the scene.
Gerald Wilder became a fugitive from authorities but was found several months later in Florida. He was returned to Macon County where he has remained until Thursday. He will now be housed at a state penitentiary to serve the 20 year sentence.
