Funeral services for Gladys Miller Deaton, age 79, of Red Boiling Springs were conducted Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Bro. Randy Roper officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Tope, Buddy Leigh, Shane Deaton, Steven Deaton, Spenser Tope, Hunter Tope and Dr. Femi Odunusi. Interment was Friday, August 20 at the Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.

Gladys Deaton passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 at her residence.

A native of West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William and Icey Dayton Miller. She married Sherman Ross Deaton, Sr. on October 16, 1942 who preceded her in death on November 16, 1983. She was preceded in death by sisters Donna Jean Williams and brothers Junior and Carl Miller. Gladys was a homemaker and a member of the New Life Community Church.

Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law Billie (Calvin) Leigh, Coulterville, IL, Cookie Massey and companion Joe Gravins, Red Boiling Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Sherman (Diane) Deaton, Cadiz, Ohio; step-son, Theodore (Virginia) Deaton, Parkersburg, WV; sisters Frances Deaton, Washington, PA, Betty Morris, Wilkesboro, NC, Barbara Mills, Huntington, WV; brothers, Jimmy Miller, Tampa Bay, FL, Michael Miller, St. Albans, WV; seven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and very special friends, Inez Newberry and Shena Wilder.
