On Friday, July 23, Red Boiling Springs Police Officer Doug McDonald and Macon County Sheriff's Deputy Kimball Hall observed Lance Blackburn, 29, with a last known address of Hendersonville, drive past them while they were exiting the Quick and Easy on Lafayette Road in RBS.
Officer McDonald stated that he knew that Blackburn had outstanding warrants on him and was driving on a revoked license.
Officer McDonald and Deputy Hall began a chase of Blackburn toward the Hillwood Drive. They observed Blackburn turn onto Sunset Drive, then onto Dale Street.
Deputy Hall then attempted to set up a roadblock on Market Street at Macon Bank & Trust in Red Boiling Springs.
Blackburn then went through the roadblock making a getaway through the video parking lot.
It was at that time the chase became more serious as Blackburn exceeded his speed. He made his way to North Springs Road and traveled toward Jackson County.
Jackson County was notified and RBS Police Chief Terry Tuck advised Officer McDonald and Deputy Hall to follow closely until Jackson County could set up a road block.
Blackburn continued on into Jackson County at a high rate of speed. Once Blackburn saw the road block set up by Jackson County authorities, he bailed from his vehicle on foot and is still at large. Once caught, Blackburn will face charge of felony evading and reckless endangerment by Officer McDonald and also charges by Deputy Hall and Jackson County.
If anyone knows of the whereabouts of Lance Blackburn contact the RBS Police Department at 699-2012 or call the TIPS line at 699-TIPS (8477).
