Sam Sneed, 78, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Monday, May 10, 2004 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. The Macon County, TN native was born Wednesday, February 17, 1926, a son of the late Dick Sneed and Carrie Ethel Parker Sneed, and was a retired carpenter. On February 27, 1952 he was united in marriage to Betty Kirby Sneed.

He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Betty Kirby Sneed, Lafayette, TN; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sherry Sneed, Knoxville, TN; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roy Wayne Scruggs, Hartsville, TN; a grandaughter and grandson-in-law and a great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, James Sneed and a sister, Annie Mae Sexton.

Funeral services for Sam Sneed were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Mike Carver and Jerry Mercer officiating. Burial was in Walton Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Paul Kirby, Dean Ellis, Mike Etheridge, Boyd Morrison, Randy Kirby, Lonnie Stubblefield, and Kevin Sexton. Honorary pallbearers were Dean Parker, Jimmy Merryman, Louie Dyer, R. C. Bransford, Donald Loftis, Joe Hudson, Ronald Jenkins, George Duffer, Doc Goodall, and W. H. White.

Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN was in charge of arrangements.
