An Allen county resident, fifty-six year old Pamela Conway, was shot four times at point blank range with a handgun. Authorities say her son confessed to the murder. The murder allegedly occurred on Harold Bandy Lane in Holland Kentucky, a small farming community about a mile from the Macon County line.
The Allen County Sheriff's Department says 24 year old Eric Tobin was living there with his wife and two children, and his father, Fred, until about a month ago when he and his wife separated.
He apparently stayed at the house with his father, and his wife moved to Macon County with the children.
Authorities say the argument began between Tobin and his mother, Pamela Conway, early Wednesday morning, April 28, when Conway allegedly told Tobin
she was going to get a lawyer to get custody of his children.
Detective Steve Woods of the Allen County Sheriff's Department stated the argument escalated, and when Ms. Conway attempted to leave, Tobin went back into the house and got a .38 caliber handgun, went to the driver's side of his mother's van, and shot her four times at point blank range. He then drove her van into a ravine and left her body there in the van.
According to Allen County Sheriff, Les Marsh, Tobin then traveled to his estranged wife's residence in Macon County and changed his cloths. Later, Tobin reportedly confessed to family members. They reportedly convinced him to contact the authorities. Later the same day around noon he turned himself in to authorities in Allen County, KY.
Macon County Sheriff's Detective Mark Gammons picked up the clothing from the residence in the county, bagged it and turned it over to Allen County authorities as evidence.
Detective Woods stated Tobin was subdued and nervous, but very cooperative, and even agreed to take law enforcement back to the scene.
Eric Tobin is being held in the Allen County Detention Center on $503,000 bond. He has been charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and several charges in connection with possession and cultivation of marijuana.
