American Greetings Inc. in Lafayette handed out pink slips last week. Approximately 15 employees were laid off with rumors of more lay-offs pending. Mike Vogelsang, plant manager stated, "I can't answer any questions; everything comes to us from corporate. We're just going through our normal routine, orders are always low this time of year."
Dave Poplar, Relations Representative for the American Greetings Company, was contacted for comment about the lay-off. As of press time, Poplar's secretary stated, "We want everyone to know what is going on; unfortunately the last two days of March are our busiest days of the year and no one is available for comment."
