Recently both girls showed true honesty when they found a wallet in the Piggly Wiggly shopping center parking lot.
Both girls were entering the store when they found the wallet and decided to turn it into the store clerk, Nell Wilson. Neither of the girls opened the wallet or even cared about the contents of the wallet. They just wanted to make sure the wallet was returned to the owner.
The wallet reportedly had a large amount of money and several credit cards. The wallet belonged to Barbara Davis of Nashville. Barbara and her husband Willie own a farm in Macon County and were visiting the farm that day.
Barbara said she and her husband stopped at Piggly Wiggly for only a minute and she was unaware that she had lost her wallet until she returned to Nashville.
Nell Wilson contacted the Lafayette Police Department and they were able to contact Davis at her residence in Nashville. She was asked to identify the contents of the wallet before the officers would return the wallet.
She had this to say, "I was just so thankful. It is so heartwarming to know there are still young people who are honest."
Both girls received a reward for their honesty. Barbara said she recently received a note from Brittany stating that she had donated her money to her school for the renovations needed due to the recent fire.
Brooklyn is the daughter of Bonnie and Jeffrey Dixon. Brittany is the daughter of Doug and Brenda Hauri. Brenda stated that Brittany really is close to several of the staff at Westside and felt that the school needed the money. Brittany's mother, Brenda, said, "We are so proud of them. Brooklyn is just like a daughter to me and I am just so proud of both of them."
