Bulldogs win 20th game for 2nd consecutive year

The Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs claimed their 20th win in regular season play last week as the Bulldogs handed Clarkrange a loss Thursday night, Feb. 19.

The Bulldogs have managed to put together a 20-8 overall record with a record of 7-3 in district 7A action.

Last season the RBS team was undefeated in district play and was the first team in 37 years to manage a 20 win season with the last team to accomplish a 20 win season being the 1965-66 Bulldogs.

This year is another first for RBSHS as they are the first team ever to have back-to-back 20 win seasons, adding them to a list of only 4 teams in RBS high school history to achieve this accomplishment.

With the win last week against Clarkrange, RBSHS finished 3rd place in district 7A.

District standings are as follows:

The final regular season game for the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs was a barn burner ending in double overtime play last Thursday, Feb. 19. The entire contest was tight with the Bulldogs leading at half-time by just two points with a score of 21-19.

In the third, the Bulldogs doubled their lead ending the quarter 32-28.

However, in the fourth Clarkrange rallied to tie the game 46-46 sending it into overtime play.

At the end of the 1st overtime, the score was again tied 51-51. With the second overtime period running off the clock the Bulldogs took the lead for good and kept the Clarkrange team from scoring to seal the win and a second 20 win season.
