Retired Pleasant Shade Community farmer George Beasley, Jr., died at his Toney Hollow farm home on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, following an extended illness. He was 83.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Feb. 14, 1:00 p.m. from Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home, officiated by Elder Junior Dickerson and Elder James Thomas Gibbs. Burial was in Pleasant Shade Cemetery.

Born on December 25, 1920, he was the son of the late Elmer Porter Beasley and George Washington Beasley, Sr.

On Christmas Day, 1940, he was married to the former Sally Catherine Gregory of Pleasant Shade. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 63 years is a daughter, Sharon (Shae) Gregory and husband, Garvice "Nick" Gregory; a grandson and his wife and two great-grandchildren.
